I haven’t blogged in a while. In addition to the daily grind, several publishing deadlines loom, and still my family members remain big fans of daily, home-cooked meals.
But that’s not all. We’re planning to add to our family.
I say planning because we know how these things work–man plans; God decides. One month ago we began the process of adopting from the country of Colombia.
This decision was not made lightly or without counsel. As several of you know (who held us up through the process!) we adopted Andrew in 2011 and have never regretted for an instant bringing him into our family. His transition into our lives has been as seamless and as joyous as bringing Steven home 10 months later.
The process was excruciating at points, and yet we long to do it again.
We’ve pursued a couple of local adoption options in recent months–maybe I’ll tell you more about that at a later date–but those doors have closed, and the doors to Colombia (at least for now) have flung wide open. And so here we are.
We humbly ask you to pray for us that God would be glorified and that we would be adequately prepared for the hurdles and frustrations that are sure to accompany this decision. We are not naive that our plans could change given the international adoption climate, but we trust the future of our family to our Sovereign Heavenly Father.
And, of course, we have a hefty book of lessons we learned during adoption #1 in case we experience amnesia about the unfathomable goodness of God.
